Consumers Price Index - general definition

Provides information on the Consumer Price Index and its effect on the Student Allowance and Student Loan living costs.

The Consumers Price Index (CPI) is a measure of the price change of goods and services purchased by private New Zealand households. The CPI measure is also used to determine any adjustments to Student Allowance rates and Student Loan living costs borrowing limits on 1 April each year.
