Studying over summer?

23 October 2008

Information about what financial help you can apply for and how to apply if you're completing summer school study.

If you're studying full-time

If you're studying full-time over summer, you may be able to get a Student Allowance or Student Loan. The best way to apply for both of these is online.

If you're studying both Summer School and the 2009 academic year you will need to complete an online application for each study period.

If you're studying part-time

If you're studying part-time over summer you may be eligible for the Unemployment Benefit Student Hardship.

To get the Unemployment Benefit Student Hardship you'll need to be eligible for or have been receiving Student Allowance.

 You must also:

  • be registered for work with Student Job Search (or Work and Income if there's not a Student Job Search in your region)
  • be actively looking for full-time work
  • plan to study full-time after your break.
