Payments to students are not affected and will be made as usual.

Christchurch Office Closed

From Friday 17 September, Christchurch Outreach staff will be back in Torrens House.  An appointment only system is currently in place.  Please call 0800 88 99 00 to make an appointment if you require emergency assistance.

Work and Income sites

Some Work and Income offices in Christchurch are confirmed safe and will be open to provide emergency support to those who need it.

If you are unable to get to a Work and Income site and require emergency assistance then please visit one of the welfare centres that have been set up.

If you require emergency assistance visit your local welfare centre.

Earthquake Government Helpline

People requiring information on income support, housing options, health issues, community assistance, Civil Defence or any other government service can call the Earthquake Government Helpline on 0800 77 999 7 (0800, double seven, triple nine, seven), 24 hours a day.
