Studying in second semester

24 June 2010

Make sure you read this article if you’re going to be studying in second semester.

Returning to study after semester one

If you’re planning on returning to study for semester two, you need to make sure your finances are sorted.

If you received a Student Allowance or Student Loan in semester one, make sure you check your study dates in the application details section of MyStudyLink.

If your study dates only include semester one and you are returning to study the same course at the same education provider, please call us on 0800 88 99 00 once you've enrolled and we'll reconfirm your study details with your education provider.

If your study dates include study in addition to semester one, you have changed courses or you are studying at a different education provider in semester two you will need to reapply for student finance for the second semester.

When you apply online you should apply using your MyStudyLink username and password.  By using your MyStudyLink username and password your details that we hold will pre-fill into your application, making the application process faster.

Payments over the study break

The length of your study break will determine if you are still able to receive your Student Allowance payments and/or Student Loan living costs payments over this period.

Thinking about going to study

If you’re thinking about going to study make sure you check out the Thinking about study pages on the website.  There is information about student life, what it will cost and the different ways you can support yourself.

If you have already decided to study and just need to sort your finances, then check what you can get and apply online.
