Why we need supporting documents

26 April 2010

When you apply for a Student Allowance or Student Loan there are certain documents we need to see in order to process your application.

We know that filling out the forms and collecting the information we need can be time consuming, particularly in your first year of study.

We have to check your identity and other personal details to ensure the right people receive the tax payer money that funds Student Allowances and Student Loans. These checks also provide you with valuable protection of your personal information.

While you will still be required to provide evidence when you apply again in the future the good news is we won't need to see everything again.

StudyLink always welcomes feedback from students and we use it to improve the quality of the service we provide. To tell us about something good we've done or make a suggestion, you can email us using our Ask a Question service.
