igovt logon

The igovt logon service allows you to use the same logon across other agencies that are part of the igovt programme, and saves you from having to remember multiple usernames and passwords. To access StudyLink’s online services from the 5 August you’ll need to have an igovt logon.

What is an igovt logon

igovt logon is a service that allows you to use the same logon details to access government service providers securely via the internet through the use of a username and password. The igovt logon service is managed by the Department of Internal Affairs. For more information about the igovt logon service visit:

Benefits of using an igovt logon

  • Using the igovt logon service means you will no longer need to use a passphrase when logging in.
  • If you forget your logon details you can reset your own details by using the “Forgot your username” and “Forgot your password” links, which will send a reminder email to you.
  • You will no longer need to contact StudyLink regarding resetting usernames, passwords and passphrases.

Creating your igovt logon

All students will create an igovt logon when they apply online or when they log on to MyStudyLink.

If you already have a StudyLink logon you will still need to create an igovt logon and then link this to your StudyLink details by entering your StudyLink username and password. Once we have linked these details, you will then use your igovt logon to access StudyLink’s online services.

Once you have an igovt logon, the next time you apply online or log on to MyStudyLink you will need to use your igovt logon.

The igovt logon service is managed by the Department of Internal Affairs. For more information about the igovt logon service visit:

If you forget your igovt username and password

If you have forgotten your username and/or password, you need to use the igovt logon service to reset these.

If you have forgotten your username you can click the ‘Forgot my username’ link on the igovt log on page and enter your email address to have your username emailed to you. You must enter the email address that you previously used for your igovt logon.

If you have forgotten your password you can click the ‘Forgot my password’ link on the igovt Log on page and you will need to answer two of the security questions you previously set up. A temporary password will then be emailed to you.

You can also access the 'forgot' links through the Manage igovt logon link below,

Updating your igovt logon details

Using the igovt logon service you can manage/update your igovt logon details.  This includes your username, password and security questions. To update these details go to igovt website (www.i.govt.nz), and click on ‘Manage your igovt logon’.  You will need to log on using your igovt username and password.  Use the igovt website to:

Change your username - enter an alternative igovt username.
Change your security questions - select one or more new security questions and enter your answers.
Combine your logons - if you have more than one igovt username and password, you can combine these into a single igovt logon.
Suspend your logon - if you suspect that your igovt logon has been misused, you can temporarily suspend it, or you can temporarily suspend your logon if you do not intend to use it for an extended period.
