The first time you login, there are some extra steps you need to take to make sure your account is secure.
You'll need to change the password that you've been given, and create and confirm a passphrase. Then you'll have to create two challenge questions, one for your password and one for your passphrase. That way if you forget either the password or the passphrase, you can reset them yourself.
So here are the full steps for your first login.

Step 1. Enter your username and the password that has been given to you by StudyLink.

Step 2. Next you will need to change your password. Your new password must be between 8 and 15 characters long. You can only use letters and numbers (ie no special characters or spaces)

and your password must have at least 1 letter and at least 1 number. The whole password needs to be lower case.

Step 3. You now need to set up a passphrase. A passphrase is a word that you choose, that is used as a second layer of protection to help make sure you're the only one who can access your account details. Make sure you remember it, as you'll need it for future logins.
Your passphrase must be between 8 and 25 characters long and like the password it can only use letters and numbers - no special characters or spaces.
Screen shot of MyStudyLink create a passphrase screen, Jessica says:
It's not case sensitive - this means it doesn't matter if you use upper or lower case when you type it.
Cut back to Jessica,
It can't have more than 2 repeating characters in a row (so the word "book" is OK, but "boook" is not).

The passphrase cannot contain your username.

Step 4. Now you can set up your challenge questions to help you remember your password and passphrase. If you forget your password or passphrase in the future, you can reset them yourself as long as you can answer your own challenge questions. If you have already set up a challenge question for your password when you applied online, then these details will be pre-filled into the screen.

The answers to your challenge questions:
- must be six to 30 characters long
- it cannot contain spaces
- it cannot be all the same character, e.g. aaaaaaaaaaaaa
- it cannot start with any of these combinations: qwerty, asdfgh, zxcvbn, 123456
- it must be different for password and passphrase
- and importantly it IS case sensitive - so make sure you can remember how you typed it.

For example, if your passphrase is ‘graduation' you would select ‘R' ‘A' ‘T'. The 3 characters you have to enter will change every time you login.
Great, now you just need to read and accept the Terms and Conditions.
