Apply now

16 September 2018.

There's a lot to organise if you're studying next year but there's one thing you can't forget. Apply for your 2019 Student Allowance or Student Loan now.

Apply now banner

Follow these steps:

  • Step 1 - Apply for 2019

    First time students

    1. Set up RealMe verified identity

Before you apply for your Student Loan or Allowance, you should set up a RealMe verified identify. It’ll mean you won't need to send us evidence of your identity to support your application.

Set up a RealMe verified identity on the RealMe website

    2. Check if you can get fees-free

If you're a new student, you may be able to get fees-free. You'll most likely qualify if you're finishing secondary school this year.

If you qualify, you may not need a Student Loan for your course fees. You'll still need to apply for a Student Loan if you want course-related costs or living costs.

    Go to the fees-free website

    3. Apply

You can apply for your Student Loan and/or Student Allowance online.

Apply as a first time student

    Returning students

If you’ve applied in the last 12 months, you can log in to MyStudyLink and use the Returning Application.

Your application will be pre-filled from last time. All you need to do is check and update your information – it’ll take less than 5 minutes.

    Complete a returning application
  • Step 2 - Send us your documents

    Upload supporting documents

We'll write to you to let you know what happens next.

If you need to send us supporting documents, you can do this online using Connect.

It’s important to get everything to us straight away so we can carry on processing your application.

    Send your documents using Connect

    Returning students

If you sent us extra forms or documents for your application last year, eg, a parents' form or proof of your parents' income, you need to send new ones this year, even if things haven't changed.

Don't send us a copy of the same forms or documents you sent last year - we can't use these because they're not up to date.
