Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund
01 July 2020.
Apprenticeships and some vocational courses are now fully funded by the Government's Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund from 1 July 2020 until 31 December 2022.
This is being administered through the Tertiary Education Commission.
You'll need to check with your education provider to see if your course is being paid for - if it is, you'll need to make sure you haven't also paid for this another way, for example through a Student Loan, scholarships or private payments.
If you're applying for a Student Loan for a course that is fully funded, you can request that no fees are paid as part of your Student Loan.
Which courses are funded
Funding is focused on courses that respond to the impacts of COVID-19 and are in demand by employers.
Already paid your fees
If your course is covered by the new funding, and you've already paid your fees, talk with your education provider. If you paid your fees by Student Loan, your education provider will refund these back to us, and we'll send this on to Inland Revenue. Inland Revenue will then update your Student Loan balance.
Checking your Student Loan balance
You can check your balance for your Student Loan on the Inland Revenue website.
