Payment Cards
Payment cards are an easy way to pay for items and services from shops that accept them.
What is a payment card
A payment card is a reusable green card, like an EFTPOS card.

You can use a payment card to pay for essential goods and services like food, groceries, glasses, and dental treatment. You need to contact us to check if you can get help with these costs.
During your application we’ll check how much you need, and once approved we'll load that amount onto the card. We'll also check which shop you're going to spend it at. You can only use the money on the card at that shop, unless the money is for food and groceries – the card will work at all major grocery stores.
You need to spend any money on your card within 7 days (for glasses you have up to 28 days).
Setting a PIN on your payment card
You can now set a personalised PIN on your payment card. This helps keep your card and money safer, instead of using the last 4-digits on the card.
From 23 September you must have a personalised PIN to use your payment card, so it's a good idea to set this up now, even if you're not using the card.
